[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Nowhere else in the world, outside the polar regions, you can see glaciers so close to the sea, extending more than eight miles (13km) from the highest peaks of steep mountains to the valley floor and surrounded by rainforest. The Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are the two most famous glaciers, a small part of the Westland National Park.

Because of its steepness and location, the Franz Josef Glacier is the most dynamic in the world and responds quickly to variations of precipitation and temperature.

A truely amazing place in New Zealand. And a must-do for every visitor: glacierclimbing. It's pretty tough, cool and sometimes a bit uncomfortable (don't do this when you suffer from claustrophobia) but it's SO rewarding. You'll never feel smaller..

Sounds awesome! This highlights the awesome power of glaciers... nothing, not even mountains, can resist their movement. This composition catches the unique nature of the landscape perfectly - well done!
