[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the New Zealand mountain parrot known as the Kea. Distinctive green plumage and a pronounced beak on the outside, phenomenal intelligence on the inside. These birds have been shown to possess problem-solving skills, and you can often see this when they are exploring and opening your pack! They are very inquisitive and very confident and they have been blamed for a lot of damage to people's cars in New Zealand. They will happily strip all the door seal from your car, remove your aerial or take your windscreen wipers if given the chance.

This was one of a pair at the top of a climb called Avalanche Peak at Arthur's Pass.

What a terrific shot of a NZ Kea. The colours and clarity are the best i've ever seen. This must have helped make the long climb worth it? Many thanks for sharing.
Guess as still a Kiwi at heart, i like this kea.

Hello.
Very interesting naturalistic document. The shot is perfectly managed and this bird is particularly 'expressive'. Maybe has it something to do with the 'intelligence' you speak about in your very interesting note. Congratulations for the DOF management. Thanks for sharing.

great detail and colours here, dan.. well done! kea are lovely birds too.. if only i could have one for a pet!
