Mt Ruapehu is an active volcano in the middle of the North Island that erupts on occasion but still manages to be a popular ski resort in the winter. This pic was taken while doing the Tongariro Crossing Hike that takes you across the national park and around and up a few major volcanoes and volcanic lakes. It's quite a spectacular trip. It's also the scene for alot of the Lord Of the Rings.
This pic is a scan of a print from a crappy old point and shoot that took surprisingly decent pictures. It's sharpened and a wee bit of saturation added. |

This is really a fantastic scenery shot, David. I like the dark tone of the foreground. It's well saturated. and of course the volcano looks pretty interesting with it's almost flat top. Good work.
