Photographer’s Note

I was walking near the external reef in Rarotonga, during the low tide.
It was our first day at the Cook Islands.
Ten minutes before we saw 2 whales at 100 meters from the beach, so i took the camera and i walked on the dead reef the most possible near to the whales.
Walkig on the dead reef is very hard and sometimes dangerous, so when i was arrived at the border with the ocean the whales were arrived in New Zealand!
I took 3 or 4 images of the 2 big jumping whales, but every time that some friend look that images i must to explane: "this 2 light blue things in the light blue ocean are 2 whales!"
...when i was walking back to the beach i found that beautiful blue Starfish that i had never seen before.
The, when we came back home i found that the correct name is "Linckia laevigata" and is a rare starfish of southern Pacifica, common only on the Fiji and Cook reefs.
