Geyser Flat at Whakarewarewa in Rotorua is the most intense area of Geyser activity in the world. In this small area are 5 geysers, the two largest of which are active much of the time. Both the Prince of Wales Feathers & Pohutu Geysers are shown here. Of the other three, one small geyser down by the river, Kereru, can erupt relatively frequently while the other two small geysers are now very infrequent. The day I took this photo, it had been raining and the air temperature was reasonably cold, hence here was a lot of steam rising from the warm earth & rocks surrounding the Geysers. The full name of the area, known locally just as Waka, is Te Whakarewrewatangaoteopetauaawahiao which means 'the Gathering Place of the War Parties of Wahiao' (a local chief). This is the most visited of the Thermal areas in th Rotorua/Taupo district.

This place should be one of the 7 Wonders of the World. You captured it brilliantly and I hope the ash and fumes didn't harm you or the camera. Great control over the shutter to freeze the action as you did. Excellent sharpness and definition amongst all the fumes and spray.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely evening
