Photographer's Note

I photographed this Pacific mollymawk just as it began raining heavily in the sea in Petrie Bay off Chatham Island, a remote island some 700 kilometres in the South Pacific off New Zealand's South Island. Mollymawks are a small albatross and this particular species breeds, and is very numerous, in the waters around the Chatham Islands.
