Photographer's Note

Apologies in advance for the ordinary quality of this photo - from memory it was taken on an old compact in the days when guzzling beer and cracking onto lovely young Kiwi fellas was more of a priority than taking photos.

But it's one of the few photos I have of New Zealand - I wish I could pinch one of Jimkil's amazing shots ;)

I couldn't let the moment pass without remembering the Kiwis today. Last Saturday, 29 miners in Greymouth (South Island) were trapped underground as a result of a gas explosion. Five days elapsed as rescue attempts were planned and were about to be made. Tragically on Wednesday, a further huge explosion occurred, killing all 29 men. The youngest miner was just 17 and it was his first day on the job. New Zealand has been in mourning since the incident, as have we over the Tasman here in Australia for our mates the Kiwis.

This is Mitre Peak in Milford Sound on New Zealand's South Island.
