Photographer’s Note

Reminded me of the smoky pubs back in the UK and Ireland, only this is the countryside version of what it is like. Taken on the way back from Taranaki in the farmlands of Pukemoe.

Beautiful open scenary wih the fog that adds a soft touch to it. The colors are exceptional.

I am glad to see you coming back around here with so fresh colors. I like very much the fog that gives a strange feeling... it could be a seascape, with wild waves bashing the rocks, and the so peaceful hills as a contradiction with this turmoil. But my imagination surely drives me too far... although not as much far as yours, who make a connection between this open space and a pub!!! Haha!

Hello Jim! I thought smoking was over in the pubs but probably it is like in Switzerland that they find ways to stretch the law although speaking for myself I don't mind if people smoke in pubs. Just wonderful the rolling green hills with the "smoke signs" all over. What a free world up here, so peaceful. Beautiful shot! Take care, have a good week, Barbara.

Hey Jim, schmokin'! Great panorama. Are you getting homesick? The photo might remind you of the smoky pubs of Ireland and the Old Dart, but it also reminds me of the beautiful countryside of those countries. The only thing added here being "sunshine" :) You've spotted well here and caught an amazing natural phenomena. Congrats, Lisa.

Hi Jim.
I don't know about the comparison with the English pubs, but the photo is a beauty, and well cropped into panoramic proportions. Light, shadow, mist, bright colours, a few sheep - it reminds me of NZ rather than an English pub. One effect of the mist, to me, is to make it look as though there's a beach in the background, and the mist is the foam coming off the waves. Anyway, it's a great shot, seemingly simple but stunning.

You have captured the cold feel of the frosty morning well, in fact I can still see the ice crystals in the shadows. Beautiful light and mood. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jim,
it is not only the beauty of the landscape, the gentle colors and the mist that make this image so lovely, it is first of all the amazingly wonderful light of early spring. As already mentioned, this impression is stunning!

Hi Jim,

great capture of this incredible phenomenon. When I saw that rambling green, I thought it had to be Ireland. Our green here has a different shade.

wonderful site, great moment for photography. The fog is what makes this even more attractive. You have chosen a good level of saturation and the panorama format works pretty well. Very fine photo, well done!

Hello Jim,

The special atmosphere is very well recorded!
A typical morning scene as the first sun is fighting the remains of the night fog...
The play of light is well captured, the mysterious mood makes the landscape appealing to my eyes!
