Photographer’s Note
Part of my helicopter flight was a landing on a small ridge near the top of Walter Peak with this fantastic view of Lake Wakitipu.
One of the flights that is offered by the Helicopter company is a flight for two with wine and cheese served at this point.. would be very romantic with the right person.
To the right of the photo is Queenstown and to the left at the end of the lake is Glenorchy and Kinloch. The road opposite following the mountains and the lake is the road that connects Queenstown and Glenorchy, a beautiful 45 minute drive.
This is a panorama made up of 8 portrait photo's taken without a tripod and combined using photoshop. Although it is a little distorted I decided it was worth it to show the entire view.

Great view and work too. Little overprocessed for my taste - but it's just taste. Good job !

Specially in the large version, I can see some many wonderful details all around the photograph that has excellent sharpness, perfect exposure, outstanding and priviledged viewpoint, simple but effective composition! An image that makes me want to go to NZ as soon as possible... oh well.. my traveling are for 2011... will I be able to hold on???

Hey Jude,
(I bet you hear that a lot!)
Yes, there is a distortion but it doesn't bother me at all.
Awesome colours, a bit oversaturated maybe, but it doesn't take away the beauty of this shot. Those clouds are amazing.
Superb shot, excellent stitching quality.
Thanks for sharing, best wishes

Wonderful view of this lake. Great job to stitch the 8 pictures. Without tripod it's very difficult. Congratulations.

Hi Jude,
Only with a helicopter can see these views and make such images....stunning..!!!
It's indeed a little bit distored, but who gives a sh*t, this is a great stitch in a beautiful panoramic format. My screen resolution is 1920x1200 and i can see the large version in all his beauty. You did an excellent job here, very good work, i like it a lot.
Have a great weekend,

Hello Jude,
A fantastic and detailed landscape including a superb sky and its reflections. The blue to my eye seems somewhat too brightly coloured but maybe that is the effect of the altitude ?

Hey Jude,
NIce to see this wide panoramic landscape of Q'town... I cant believe you got this from 8 photos held by hand - i cant see the seams, and think the curved distortion is part of the artistic merit of the shot.
Great work,
Dave

Hello Jude,
This is a beautiful landscape. The scene is well composed with excellent lighting and colours. The placement of the stones in the foreground gives the shot a nice sense of depth. The sky is absolutely amazing and provides a nice backdrop for the scene. The DOF is just..incredible.
Congratulations! Splendid work.
Watching your gallery is a pleasure for me;)
best regards,

Excellent merging of 8 photos - and you obviously have a steady hand. The weather was perfect and the sky was spectacular for your helicopter flight. Excellent composition and I love the blue. Tfs, Marlene
