[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is New Zealand's Mount Cook. At 3755m, it is the highest peak in Australasia. It was first climbed in 1884. Edmund Hillary, along with his Sherpa climbing partner, Tenzing Norgay, did a first ascent from the south in 1948. They were using Mt. Cook as training for Everest, apparently. They were the first to reach the top of Everest - in 1953.
The lake is Lake Pukaki. Its extraordinary blue colour comes from "rock flour" - very fine glacial sediment - suspended in the water.
This image is a bit postcard-ish. My apologies for that, but I loved the view!

Hi John
No need to apologise for the postcard feel... I like this classic, well composed view! The colours of the water are incredible and work well against the mountainous and snow backdrop. I think a UV or polariser filter might have helped to reduce some of the haze, but maybe not possible with the camera you have. In any case a stunning view!

This picture is splendid and the mountain really impressive. I like the contrast with the lake.
Well done

There's nothing wrong with a 'postcard' image, and this one is particularly fine! Good colours, DOF & composition. The detail on the mountain is very good.

hi John!

GOOD shot and rare clear view. well done and tfs arnoud

Hey John

Mount Cook is very impressive in NZ, lovely turquoise lake while the peak has excellent detail in the whites. I love the clouds just obscuring the peak slightly. Well done

Regards
Jim
