The ridge leading south from Key Summit has many small tarns. This one was the color of red wine, presumably because of tannin in the water. The view is south down the Eglinton Valley, along which the Milford Road runs.

Beautiful scene from this beautiful country. And you're quoting Homer too (or was that Patrick O'Brian?) Your reference is certainly appropriate, as the peaty water does indeed look reddish. Lovely work. Happy New Year.
