Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken in the Paparoa National Park, the smallest park in New Zealand. The park was founded in 1987 and is located on the beautiful westcoast of the South Island. The park is 30,000 hectares large and has some of the finest scenery on the Westcoast.
On the photo you can see the beautiful and typical Westcoast rainforest...along the Pororari River. There is a car park close to the main road (Highway 6) from where you can start heaps of great tracks and short walks. One of them is the famous 2 days Inland Pack Track (27 km), which was established by miners in 1867. The Paparoa National Park Visitor Centre, located in Punakaiki, provides a wide range of interesting and useful information on activities, tracks and accomodations of this park and region.
