Duckies Lining up @Lake Wanaka Photo

Photographer’s Note

This was shot at Lake Wanaka, it was quite early in the morning and the sun was pretty bright. I was amazed by the beauty of Lake Wanaka. It was so so calm and the duckies were just lining up and swimming around. I was surrounded by these gorgeous snowy mountains..and utterly overwhelmed - didn't know which angle I should be taking the photo from......

a nice capture, jellianne! the surface of the lake against the backdrop of the mountains and the ducks make a very nice composition. on a nagging note, the two right side ducks (one on the right side center another one onn right-side lower corner) disrupt the composition a bit. my personal preference would be either to include them completely or exclude them entirely. i understand that given the reflecting surface of the water cloning out might not be easy.

A very beutiful shot spoiled by not framing correctly. i agree with zmey you should make a tighter crop to get rid of the two ducks cut in half on the right hand side.For future reference slow down and think about composition before pressing the shutter.

Hi Jellianne,
very nice taken of this birds. Very shaply with great composition and light. But i think it is a litle more blue and it needs some red color.

the first thought i had was " it must be really cold over there !"
you capture that very special ice-blue color.

Nice idea with agood PoV and superb colours, maybe a slightly tighter crop, leaving out the the cropped ones on the right, would have had more impact, as Nigel suggested, but I still think the overall effect carries the shot.
