I took this shot just outside of Queenstown on the way to Arrowtown, which is part of Otago District .... sorry I forgot the name of this place.
Although the climate conditions in Otago is not as good as in Nelson District, this part of New Zealand produces the best Pinot wines in the country. Some say it is the harsh conditions of the area that gave the pinot wine that award winning taste. If you love wines, NZ has plenty of botique wineries open to the public for wine tasting and dining.

Fantastic the variety of elements of this composition to begin for this garden decoration well in the entrance. Great pov, very defined colors, I like how he/she works sharpness. This is going to the favorite ones. Great work.

Amazing composition! Very beautiful place.
Excellent POV, good depth, very nice colors and textures, great light.
robertosalguero (246) 2007-09-29 18:33
Hello Renier. I am not familiar with NZ wines. Never tasted it before. I would imagine that the weather improves the taste as is the case of Ice Wines. Good shot of this interesting place. The light and colours are excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Bruno40 (6658) 2007-09-29 19:07
Good photo Renier,
The contrast between the green fields and the dry hills is good.
siolaw (38088) 2007-09-29 20:06
a well composed image with only a bit of sky, thus filling the frame with this great landscape, quite barren if you except the vineyards... Light, colors and sharpness are excellent quality
Interesting scene and note
grantlp (2113) 2007-09-29 20:57
The scenery of this wine farm is superb.....obviously has a sense of history represented by the old plough, and the stone wall provides a rustic look. Your composition is excellent, with first the road, and then the lines of vineyards leading my eye towards the homestead in the background. Well seen and well captured.
jplebrun (21208) 2007-09-29 20:57
belle prise de vu de ce coin de campagne de la Nouvelle Zélande, belle composition plein de couleurs claires et nettes, beau travail.
Greg1949 (9011) 2007-09-29 21:04
Renier, this is unreal looking, what a mix, great shot of course but the green and he desert mix is amazing.
bakes888 (18499) 2007-09-29 21:38
Hi Renier. This area is a world apart from most of the rest of NZ with its sunburnt and dry landscape. Great autumn colours contrast well with the deep blue sky. Well composed with good patterns and colours. Thanks for sharing.
daddo (23104) 2007-09-30 0:19
Hi renier. Not the N.Z. of my travels. A scene I imagine from New Mexico or Calabria ( the arid hills I mean.) It is an impressive landscape for its contrasts- the green grass in the foreground, the fertile vineyards and green pines and the denuded hills.Nice Pov as we follow the path. Regards/ Klaudio.
ribeiroantonio (22637) 2007-09-30 1:03
It is amazing to see how a so arid region (it seams to be, looking at the background of your picture) can support a so nice winery. I believe that all those nice houses are part of the winery. Are they tourist houses?
Regarding the wine, you are right. The Pinot Noir is simply wonderful. I had the chance of visiting a few wineries in NZ and I have to say that the whites (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) are top quality.
Top quality is also your picture in all aspects. Well done.
Atousa (7123) 2007-09-30 2:21
This is a well-captured detailed shot with good framing and colors..I specially like the road that lead the eyes to the field.
snunney (80689) 2007-09-30 2:27
A lovely composition of this vineyard with good balance and pov looking through the open gateway. Superb sharpness and some very nice tones, particularly in the foreground walls.

Le vien de Nouvelle Zélande est très bon à boir, j'ai eu l'occasion d'en déguster, l'ensemble est très trsè beau, non seulrment les vigne mais ces colline sèches au-dessus et ce beaux murs de pierre, très joli.
MLINES (12516) 2007-09-30 5:21
Hi Renier. It is very good to see this southern vineyard, as it is remarkable to have such a crop in what used to be a cool area. Your composition is well arranged to show the entry gateway and the dry looking hills beyond. Very pleased to see this scene. TFS. Murray.
hatti52 (12786) 2007-09-30 5:22

Your image is excellent in a superb light and towards a splendid landscape. I would be curious to taste the New Zealand wine, the landscape lets me predict that this wine is of excellent quality. Very beautiful work, cheer.

Very interesting and beautiful place!!!
Lovely colours, good light, clarity and perspective!
pablominto (53744) 2007-09-30 6:11
An effective composition with this great lead-in!
The naked hills in the background are amazing, as they are hovering over the vineyards...
An attractive image with good colours, an image with many interesting details!
crckt (7218) 2007-09-30 7:01
AWESOME! The POV is excellent here with the gate opening into the vineyard. Beautifully seen and captured.

josepmarin (57627) 2007-09-30 10:12
you have controlled perfectly the hard light on this dry landscape that contrasts with the green one of the vineyard, in a very interesting scene graphically. I like beautiful the colorful one of the photo.
syd1946 (18663) 2007-09-30 11:41
Very beautiful composition! The saturated colors and great contrast between them adding much interesting. The blue sky is amazing and makes more stronger your image!

Precioso paisaje con un estupendo contraste de colores y buena perspectiva. Muy buenos detalles, color y definición.
vincz (19113) 2007-09-30 13:09
Excellent composition in a very strong light. i love how the path really get us inside the property and the picture as well. The hills in the back are very nice, so full of light. It is amazing.
delic (6735) 2007-09-30 13:57
Interesting composition. My eyes kept wandering without focusing on anything particular. Perhaps shooting from the gate, next to the carriage would have been better. Otherwise, a fine shot in very good light. I should taste some NZ wine soon. Regards,
edytungkal (4551) 2007-09-30 19:50
A fantastic shot...
The landscape and the details like a place from the fairy tale story. Lighting and colours are excellent, thanks :-)
gunbud (34066) 2007-09-30 22:06
Fantastic image with many contrasting elements such as the dry sparce hillside and the lush green vineyard. The traditional and new homes that color the sandy hillside and the old retired farm machine against the intricate stone fence.
toto (0) 2007-09-30 22:26
evanrizo (456) 2007-10-01 3:29
Hi Renier the vineyard is very nice to see here with this very good sharpness and the lines are effective. It is very goos seen with the dry land behind the houses, it works very good to see clear the houses.
Lightness and contrast are very good.
Gerrit (45858) 2007-10-01 4:14
beautiful picture. I like the rol of the old gear and the barren mountains in this wonderful varied picture.
Hellas (6783) 2007-10-01 4:44
interesting information about pinot wine and wonderful exposure of the photo. I like very much the vivid colours and the whole composition.
jhm (136708) 2007-10-01 5:15
This is almost a fairy-tale picture with the nice way and the rows of the vineyard. Very nice composition to begin for this garden decoration well in the entrance.
Very well done.
Have a nice week,
feather (51130) 2007-10-01 6:25
This is so different from the image I have of NZ in my head, and I'm surprised it is the South Island too. The composition is excellent with the road and stone wall used perfectly to lead the eye. There is such a lot of interest in the image, like the narrow rows of vines, the strange contraption on the left, and the houses nestled in the mountains.
The news here in the UK is that NZ's wine industry is all set to capitalise on this year's drought in Oz.
agbonavita (0) 2007-10-01 9:05
Intersting composition of this vineyard photo. I like the colors and depth. I ha many elements, but they all mix well in the photo.

Beautiful and interesting dep in you shot from this pretty landscape. The elements are very beautiful.
adores (35100) 2007-10-01 18:51
Wonderful place! Seems there are not many plants besides the vines. Good composition,I like the cute colourful houses and all this nice landscape, even the gate is nice and there's something on the left with wheels. Very good composition!
cessy (13647) 2007-10-01 20:40
looks like a lovely place with interesting view. mixing of vineyard, hills, and the village
very nicely captured and composed
axiotea (21649) 2007-10-01 21:50
The place looks quite arid except for the vineyards and few trees around which stand out nicely and you managed well the harsh light. The asphalted road adds depth to the image...Nice colors as well!
Graal (95986) 2007-10-01 23:31
interesting place, fine view on the vineyard, great game of colours. I like it. Good work.

In Europe the best known NZ liquid production is... Steinlager so little is known about NZ wines, however having been in Australia I see a certain similarity in the estate setup, in any case quite different from the european one. We can see on your nice image today this view has been taken in autumn, this golden vineyards season is just about to begin up there.
Have a nice day,
kevinos (7393) 2007-10-02 2:25
Gosh, Renier! This one has such a 'Lord of the Rings' feel to it. Are you sure it isn't the Shire. beautiful luminous colour and wonderful countryside.A road leading into a picture always seems to set up a nice composition, as it does here. i can't wait to try some of those wines. This year will sure be my years to visit new Zealand. regards Kevin
noborders (1010) 2007-10-02 3:09
Thıs photo has some eerıe look that I dıd not see ın your prevıous posts, apart from the concrete buıldıng ın the far, ıt seems to be ın a sort of faıry tale land, because of the foreground, the funny constructıons on the left and also the pp (?)
Cricri (103101) 2007-10-02 4:25
Vraiment trés joli, des détails et couleurs parfaitement resorti, comme en relief, et comme une trés belle peinture, bravo

nice the view of this vineyard and the perspective that created from the road and the stone fence. The houses in the background and the bare Mt.contrasted perfect.Excellent the light and the colours as the sharpness and the clarity. As you know Greece produce a lot of wine varieties.Well done Renier.
jrj (34841) 2007-10-03 4:07
Interesting result Renier this compo filled with so many details of this landscape. Of course the disposition with the road taking us in is well placed and even further underlined by the left hand lower wall. Then the lines of the vineyards, farm details and the moutains in the back - all ending up in a top overall photo work..
brevbrev14 (140) 2007-10-03 5:22
Hi Renier, what a fantastic place!!
it reminds me to a film scene!
The colours and the light are very good too!

Bright is the word which came to my mouth when I first opened your image.
Exposure is so right to show a beautiful sunny day, I like a lot.
The framing is too great, using nicely the ground graphics.

Very nice capture; and allthough New Zealand is quite far from İstanbul, now I know, how they have succeede to market their wines in Turkey !! One can easily see, how well this vineyard is been placed and how good it looks. Very nice pov and very good compo. Nice colors and very nice info's as well.

UnTrained (0) 2007-10-07 22:33
very lovely composition of colours and structures. All lines move to the heights, have a good colour contrast to their surrounding and all this in wonderful clarity and sharpness. Very appealing, the way to hte opne gate is a great invitation to "enter" this one.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf
kiks (11749) 2007-10-08 14:00
Hi Renier, what a strange landschape for a vineyard! Never seen something like this before. I would love to visit your country. But is so so fareaway ;-(
I like your composition with al diffrent layers of colours and textures and all the lines leading the eyes into the mountains. Great work
IgorDeleze (585) 2007-10-09 10:35
WOW ! Fantastic view!!!
What else could we say...
Angshu (55035) 2007-10-09 20:47
A superb shot of the vineyard with the road as a great lead-in. I love the multiple elements of interest from the rusted machine on the left, the stone wall, the lines of the vines, the cottages in the BG & the hills further down. Amazing setting & your capture is excellent.
Paolo (41222) 2007-10-11 1:46
Hi Renier, good one that i've lost, a beautiful view full of light and beautiful colours ad an "alpine" landscape!
good quality, excellent POV and exposure too.
pasternak (15181) 2007-10-11 2:31
Hi Renier, great shot, nicely built composition with a lead-in road, an inviting gate, and the vineyard in the midframe. Good light in the foreground, if a bit harsh on the mountain slope.
barrufeto_77 (28884) 2007-10-11 3:40
I like the compo in which the road invite us to walk there.
Excellent light too!
bazal (7900) 2007-10-26 3:55
I was born in Southern France where we have a lot of vineyards, but I've never seen one like this. It seems to grow in a very dry (which is good) and high (what's the heigth of the surrounding mountains?) place. If Pinot is grown there, maybe it gives something that may look like some of our Alsace or specific Burgundy wines??? In any case you picture is really nice and intersting!
Thanks for sharing.
pierrefonds (55716) 2007-10-28 5:23
A good POV of the vineyard and of the mountains under a beautiful blue sky, the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. thanks for sharing.
ekinokswest (2994) 2007-10-29 10:42
way too beautiful. the beauty of village life is presented so fine. I am pleased to see how you have used the sunlight as well. It is kinda saddening the hill has no green on it at all.
dareco (17134) 2007-11-01 0:32
I was spending some time tonight looking threw some of the galleries when I came across this. This scenery is BREATHTAKING!!! And the picture fabulous!! I am adding this one to my favorites. There is so much to see all captured in this one picture. TFS
colibriav (2152) 2007-12-07 15:13
Preciosa toma, los montes pelados del fondo contrastan con las viñas de la finca, muy bien alineadas, asi como las construcciones con esos tejados.
Me parece un tiro perfecto, de un sitio precioso.
Un saludo desde España:
