Photographer’s Note
Rugged cliffs and shingle beach along the Graves Track just south of Oamaru, Otago. This is a Nature Reserve for Blue Penguins, you can see their nesting holes burrowed into the earth banks along the track.
At the start of the track, just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Oamaru town, there is a Visitors Centre which has a large 350 seat viewing stand so that one can see the penguins come on shore to nest in the evenings.
Lots of kelp in the sea and flocks of sea birds fly right by you as you walk along the high cliff track.
