This view looks across Lake Wakatipu, in the South Island of New Zealand, toward the Bayonet Peaks. The bright blue colour of the lake is due to the fine particles of rock brought into the lake from glacial streams coming down from the Southern Alps, and also because the blue sky is reflecting off the water. This location is between Queenstown and Kingston at a place called The Devil's Staircase.
