Photographer’s Note

From near the town of Glenorchy, at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu, this view of the Dart Valley greets the eye. In the centre are the mountains Sugarloaf, Nox and Chaos, while the Routeburn Valley runs off to the left. This afternoon shot shows the clouds being generated in the mountains as the warm air from the sea rises up above the cold mountain tops.

Scanned from a slide. Polariser used. Photoshop used to smooth out some noise in the sky caused by film grain.

Hello Vincent,
So blue. Horizontal perspective works very well here. Layers of blue water and land with those lush green trees. The mountains are in hues of colors looks stunning against the white puffy cloud of the blue sky.

Hi Vincent,

An impressive scenery of the lake, of the lake and of the mountain under a beautiful sky, it is receining a good luminosity which brings out the colors. The point of view is giving depth to the picture. Which slide film did you use ? Well done, have a nice day.

I hope I'm right in seeing this as a great example of telephoto lens use. The compression is striking and jams up the colors dramatically. Your explanation of the cloud pattern is delightful.
