Photographers Note
The low tide at Wharariki Beach, on the NW tip of New Zealand's South Island, exposed this microcosm of marine crustaceans, clinging to this small rock outcrop: winkles, barnacles, mussels and small clam shells and others jostled for the meagre real estate.

Hi Jeff.
Terrific shot, this one. Superb depth of field and great viewpoint looking over the pile of crustaceans towards that impressive formation. The sky is a narrow band, but nonetheless full of detail and an ominous look. I like that reflection in the narrow strip of water just below the horizon. Really well done.

Andrew

Hi Jeff,
You know that this type image is just what I like. That foreground subject holds loads of interest and your compositional choices to get that whole pool in the foreground and positioning the background as you have are all perfect for me. I have to be respectfully honest with you though in admitting that for my tastes you've gone a bit too far with the post-processing. It has that almost "cartoony" look that I most often see in bad HDR. This is only my opinion on what I feel is a really good image that has been diminished by too much PS. I hope I haven't offended you and only mean respectful honesty.
Cheers!

Hi Jeff!
I like the composition in this photo of yours!
The detailed microcosm of marine "organisms" is a plus, but we also have the sharpness, the colors and shapes!
TFS - Congratulations!

Hello Jeff,
I have to say right from the beginning that I like the final result although there are some visible artifacts on the horizon line, especially where the mountains are.
Nevertheless,it`s a very good composition and I know that Nic Color Efex can make you jump over the horse sometimes; those effects are that spectacular.
I quit using them for a while because everything what that plugin can do,Photoshop can do too.
About Bob`s remark (cartoony look),I have to say that I saw some superb HDR landscapes so if something goes wrong,it is not the HDR to blame, but the careless "photoshoper".
Cheers:)
