Photographer’s Note

Fiordland in extreme South-West New Zealand is one of the nations most breathtaking regions famed for world renowned Milford Sound, a few kilometres down the road from where this was taken. Here a myriad of waterfalls, streams and glacial fed lakes are scattered between massive mountains and pristine ancient beech forests. The native floral and faunal emblems, the silver fern and kiwi are found in these areas. The drive into Milford Sound is one of the best in the world, the winding road itself a great feat passing through the homer tunnel and serval hair-pin switchbacks. Perfect weather, I would have liked to have the odd cloud in the sky to add some interest but in an area that records over 7,000ml of rainfall a year I regard myself as lucky.
