Photographer’s Note
The Milford Track is located in stunning scenery amidst mountains and temperate rain forest in Fiordland National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. The track spans a distance of 53.5 km starting at the head of Lake Te Anau and finishing at Milford Sound. It takes four days to complete (staying at designated huts each night) and is administered by the Department of Conservation. The third day includes a climb to Mackinnon Pass (1,069m) shown here in the clouds.

Stunning! Very Ansel Adams-ish! I think the black and white format helps to enhance the contrast of a variety of textures (misty clouds, rocky mountains, sharp, spiky grass, smooth water) that would probably be overlooked in a color photo. Well done!

Nice one! The b/w conversion turned out really well. I like the composition with the moutains receeding to the right fading out into the clouds. The photo reminds me of the cold windy weather I experienced crossing Mackinnon Pass. Hope you didn't get too much rain. Look forward to more photos from your Milford Track hike.
