Photographer’s Note
This picture of the famous Milford Sound was taken walking from the car park to the main building to get my cruise. As you can see it was overcast, raining off and on the entire day, but at least the cloud was high enough for the fabulous mountain range to be visible.
Mitre Peak is the mountain in the background, it stands at 1692 meters above the water line of the sound and was named after the headwear worn by Christian bishops.
I set off on the boat cruise at 9am, the water was fairly still but there was a decent breeze blowing and with the rain and wind being on top deck was only for the brave, I think it was about 7 degrees, with the wind probably less. Despite the weather, Milford Sound was awesome and the 2 hour cruise to the entry of the sound at the Tasman sea was a fantastic sight.

Hello Jude,
You do not always need the sun to take beautiful photos and this one is an example. A wonderful clear landscape with a godo foreground and details in the grey sky remain visible.
Well done.

Paul

Hello Jude ,
Despite of the bad weather and the grey sky , your picture is really beautiful . The famous peaks perfectly framed by the nice vegetation of the fore ground .
Very well done .

Hi Jude
You did have not so nice weather, excellent composition, the mitre peaks stand out quite well considering the overcast weather. You must have been eaten by the old mozzies. I have never been here yet, but maybe next year I will get down there.
Cheers

Hi Jude,
How beautiful would this image have been if you'd had an afternoon sky and low golden light. As it is though, it's wonderful, your composition is first class, using all of the different elements like, trees, shrubs and extended foreground to cover as much of the dull sky as possible is very well thought out. Well done.
cheers

Hi Jude!
One of the best pictures I've ever seen in here taken at that fantastic place! And the weather was not the best... but your talent is such... the photo has excellent sharpness, perfect exposure, superb depth of field, a very well chosen pov and... the most important of all... an awesome, well elaborated and top notch composition!
I really love it!
TFS - Congratulations!
