Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken in Milford Sound, in the Fiordlands of the Southern Island of New Zealand. The sheer cliffs and sharp drops are difficult to capture, and no lens can really do this magnificent landscape justice. Formed by flooding seas into a narrow 3km wide glacial valley, the peaks reach 1695m (Mitre Peak) and the valley walls plunge steeply beneath the water, reaching depths of over 500 m near the fiord’s head.

Great picture. I love the darkness, the mountains opening up to let a little light touch the sea. Good job managing the light.
