After two days of low cloud, we woke up in Twizel and looked out to see Mt Cook in clear air. No time for brekie, jumped in car and parked at the Lake Pukaki, Mt Cook visitor information, and waited for the sunrise, magnificent! Finally dragged ourselves away, and back for breakfast.

terrific first light on the slopes of the mountains, a very well balanced picture. The cloud makes a nice addition. It was certainly worth all the effort you took. Congratulations!

Gee, I wish my first light image was as half as good as yours, this is a stunning photograph.
I just love the light hitting Mount Cook, it looks brilliant. Certainly worth giving up breakfast for.
You do the wide shot extremely well, excellent choice to go with the wider end of the zoom.

Hi Mike, Good fresh angle of NZ's highest peak. The timing is very good to light one side only and also the sharpness of the tip, makes it ossible to imagine seeing the part that fell a few years ago. TFS. Murray.
