Photographer’s Note
A view across Lyttleton Harbour, near Christchurch on the South Island, on a grey day. Taken from the road that runs along the crest of the Port Hills. The clouds were getting heavier and darker, and it started raining not long after I got this shot.
The small town of Lyttleton is on the far side of the harbour, and the entrance to the sea is in the middle background. This area is the Banks Peninsula, which is composed of two extinct volcanoes. Lyttleton harbour has been eroded into the core of one of the volcanoes.
Scanned from a slide. I used Photoshop to brighten up the darkest areas, as I had to underexpose the photo to stop the brightest parts of the sky from burning out.
