The Joy of Life - a dusky dolphin at speed from a whalewatch boat at Kaikoura off the Canterbury coast. The black & white Dusky Dolphin - Lagenorhynchus obscurus - is a medium sized dolphin & said to be the most acrobatic of all dolphins. Large schools of these dolphins come off-shore every morning at Kaikoura & these are the dolphins that interact with people during the famous 'Swimming with Dolphins' excursions off Kaikoura. Schools of several hundred of these dolphins are commonly encountered in the area & there is something rather special to be able to swim with, & interact with these amazing creatures.

great shot!!! I like free dolphins and every meeting with them is always so amazing. Unfortunatly I didn't see black and white Dusky dolphins during my Cook Island cruise vacation because of bad wethear, and this specie does not live in the Mediterranean sea and neither in the Red Sea... I hope next time to be luckier ! Thanks for sharing,

Kia ora Neil !!!
It's nice to see a free "Willy" in open waters, instead of in an aquarium. Seems like he's got a turbo loaded engine :) Lucky you to see all the beautiful natural wonders first hand, very enjoyable shot to look at, congratulations.
Thank you for sharing the world !!!
