Photographer’s Note
These limestone rock formations (the larger rocks are some 30 - 40 foot high) are the water eroded remnants of limestone formed some 30-40 million years ago, when much of present day New Zealand was covered by the sea. Situated near the Craigieburn Mountains, between Christchurch and Arthur's Pass, this is a popular day trip from the South Island's capital city.
