Taken from the summit road. Akaroa town itself is not visible in this frame, but I found one of the most charming places in NZ. It is 85km by road from Christchurch, though driving it feels more like 185km. The harbour is a volcanic crater , the small gap connecting it to the Pacific ocean is visible at the right end of the horizon. I don't like the metal gate, but did not want to lose the tree at left by walking closer.

Hello Tan !
You did the right choice! Keeping the tree and the fence.
I looks you had a very nice journey in Middle Earth.....

Ce ciel , cette mer et ces couleurs vertes bien saturées ... un délice . Une image bien reposante.

Hi Tan. This shot makes Ireland look like a desert! The gate is so low-profile and out of the way of the shot that it took me a while to even notice it. Nice inclusion of the tree as a silhouette. Very nice one Tan!

Wow! i think i should visit this country soon..(my partner is gonna kill me otherwise.. lol!)
It was a good decision that you didnt walk further.. the framing tree is quite fundamental here imo..
the green is fantastic..

Wow so green ! I adhere completely to steve's comment !!!
Good Pov to have a flying bird perspective onto the bay over all these greenies, good DoF and colors overall considering the rather cloudy weather, and you even saved a bit of the sea magic on the right !
Have a nice day,

Nice vista captured here, Tan! Good depth, vivid colors, cloud formation and details. The fence at the bottom of the picture add character to the whole scene!

Great capture! The framing is great, with the scene unfolding behond the fence and the tree, down to the harbour and beyond. The colour is very lush, giving the impression of a land of plenty. Well done!

Wonderful landcape of Akaroa. It was overcast when I was there. I took a few slides, but I don't have a transparency scanner. Good color & sharpness. Well done!

An amazing topography captured here in all of its glory. I like the foreground fields sloping down to the water and the framing with the fences and gates taking the eye in various directions. Great DOF, as one can view this peaceful scene extending far into the distance. Well done.

Hi Tan !
All in green and blue tones ! This one is, as most often in your album, impressive and beautiful. The inclusion of a small part of the tree on the left side is a good idea. Thanks for sharing !

So much to catch up on since I have been away, Tan, but I shall critique this one first because it is very much in your usual style and a perfect landscape composition. The tree frames it well, and the metal gate doesn'y worry me at all because this is part of the NZ countryside. Lovely saturated greens and fabulous sharpness right to the hills in the background. Cheers . . . David
jpages (1670) 2005-12-08 19:42
great depth, the eyes go far away towards the background mountains. The view has a very good sharpness and the colours are very clear and real. I don't like too the metal gate, but sometimes one has to take decisions, and you were correct with the pinetree of the left side hand, it adds beauty to the landscape composition.
Today I have also post a "green" photo very similar as this but very different at the same time.
Best regards and take care!

I found this photo by coincidence and it made me jump out of my chair with joy! And even better, I know that guy who made the photo! Those green fields leading down to the water..cannot really describe them well.. it's paradise! What an astonishingly beautiful place and your work presents it in the most superb way with excellent foreground features.
Certainly a favorite! Thanks Tan!
