Photographer’s Note

Another photo from Cook Islands, it was taken the day before leaving...
Scanned and a bit of workshop with PSP (noise reduction, unsharp mask, more contrast and saturation). I have to say that after the workshop the image is more similar to what I saw there.

I love that azure blue that you've got in the sky and the ocean - very appealing. And it's balanced well with the green of the trees. The sand is a bit over-exposed however, and I find the image generally to be either slightly out of focus or just blurred. Maybe you could sharpen to regain the clarity that I'm sure is in the original.
Looks like a fantastic place.

I really like this shot - it looks like paradise. I like the angle you took it at, with the shore line cutting across the shot. Good use of 1/3s as well, with 2/3 sky, 1/3 land. I tried a workshop to correct the purplish tint. I hope you like it!

Hi! Stefano.
Just realised I did not do a critique on your image. I did a workshop on your image and added noise to the burned out beach. I agree with Tuffellow's analogy of returning to the original with his settings and if the beach is still bad then select the beach area carefully and add a new layer(PS). Next add noise to the selection area. Adjust the opacity of that layer untill it is just visible to the decerning eye. Finaly use Filters/blur to the noise and if need be erase the water edge uneavenly in the noise layer. Don't forget white sand should be white and shows up as white when there are indentations within it.
