Photographer’s Note
I took this photo whilst trekking through the tongarairo crossing that runs through the volcanic reserve. This hot spring is located on the trail down from the volcano which which was covered with clouds. I really liked the colours of iron oxide and warm colours of grass. And as you can see- the sun came out!
The photo was scanned. Ill try and get a better scan some time soon.

Assoon I saw the thumbnail I thought this was the Tongariro Crossing. I remember seeing these hot streams with the steam rising off them there.
I like your photo - I think the low point of view suits this well and together with the sky in the background, really gives it a sense of depth. Yes, it's clearly a scanned photo and as such looks a little unnatural and lacks contrast, but it is really difficult to get a good reproduction from a scan.

Very nice shot of a fantastic place!
Scan or not, the colors are peculiar and the very dark sky make a strong contrast with the grass & the stones.
A very nice composition of strong impact!

I did Tongariro crossing twice and these colors are real. Fine POV and good choice of contrasting colors

Very interesting picture. The typical hydrothermal colorful deposit are really nice and add a warm touch to the composition. What about the smell in this area ?

Very nice Jonathan. I like the depth of field and the rustic colours of the Tussock grass, rocks and Iron Oxide contrast nicely with the stormy sky.
Well done
