Taupo's sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Taupo is a town on the shore of Lake Taupo (NZ's largest lake) in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. It is the seat of the Taupo District Council and lies in the southern Waikato Region.

Taupo has a population of 22,000 (June 2008 estimate).
Its name comes from Māori Taupō-nui-a-Tia. Literally translated, it means "The great cloak of Tia" where Tia is the name of the discoverer of the lake.

Taupo is a tourist centre, particularly in the summer, as it offers panoramic views over the lake and to the volcanic mountains of Tongariro National Park.

This is a picture taken very close to the lake during a spectacular sunset.

Hello!
It's a wonderful shot! I like very much the dark tree placed on the left side of the photo.
The sky is amazing - the clouds are in realy unusual shape and in unusual colour.

Aparte de un bonito atardecer es un acierto en la foto la curva del lago que nos lleva hasta ese árbol solitario, le da un carácter intimista. La luz y el cielo son preciosos.

Oh, yes, Victor - I like it very much. The truly horizontal line, the cloud wisps diverging from the dip in the hills, the tree in just the right place and partly aboe the horizon, the very dark silhouettes on the left balanced by the general darkness on the rihgt all help to make it a memorable picture.
