Photographer’s Note
Using the oxymoron in my title,I wanted to point out the contradiction between the sometimes beautiful, angelic colours of the Artists' Palette and its true substance which includes corrosive minerals and excessive heat. The guide pamphlet says the following in regards to the Artists' Palette:
Overflowing water from the Champagne Pool draws with it minerals that have originated from below the surface. As the waters cool and the minerals are exposed to our atmosphere they show themselves in a variety of locations and colours depending upon water levels and wind direction...

Hi Klaudio,
Creative pov, foreground plants almost a frame for background land, lovely colourful mud, golden sunlight and shadows add extra effects, distinct image, well done.

Hello Klaudio,
Except for the vegetation, one would expect such conditions, not on earth, but perhaps on Io or Ganimede, two of the moons orbiting Jupiter. But the vegetation is so lovely in this instance it is clearly earthly and not heavenly!
Far more tame are the tar pits in the middle of Los Angeles. A salutary legacy of the tar pits is that many animals now extinct (including the mastodon and the saber tooth cat) were trapped and their remains preserved through the millennia. In Champagne Pool, I suspect, they would have all disappeared.
Warm regards, Klaudio.

Hi Klaudio,
Waow... New Zealand makes me dream and this photo especially ! W really feel being on Earth looking another planet. The contrast between vegetation andthis "mineral" view is well seen. Beautiful !

Hi Klaudio,
Looking down like this one could imagine this to be a tropical beach somewhere on the edge of an atoll. Good composition the foreground vegetation frames the pool well and gives depth to the capture. Very well done.

Hi Klaudio
The soft muted colours are very attractive even if the pool is deadly. Nicely framed by the tree.

I've just seen similar sights at Yellowstone so I understand your creative title too well :)The pastel colours blurred by the steam are certainly beautiful and you have framed the pool artistically with the bushes and tree on the left. Mostly Yellowstone colours are more vivid, probably to do with different minerals and bacteria.

Hi Klaudio,
Another vulcanic view with surprising colours. Well framed by tree and foreground shrubs. I like those soft tones.
(I'm coming to Australia in January, flying to Sydney and back from Melbourne. Any suggestions for stops in between along the railroad line?)
