Photographer’s Note
About 7:30pm, looking across the lake to the township of Rotorua.
This spot was quite amazing. Apart from the geothermal mysteries of the town (and its pungent but not all that unpleasant smell), Rotorua turned out to be a place of adventure (white-water rafting), culture (hangi concert) and history (museum).
Our accommodation was lovely and far enough out of town that the air was clear. A short walk out the door of our guest bedroom took me to the lake and this very pleasant view back towards the town and the setting sun.
Tech stuff: tripod-mounted 30-second exposure, stacked ND4 (water motion blur) and STAR4 (street lights) filters, crop and straighten in PP

Great long exposure shot. I might have cropped out a bit of the bottom to give the picture a more panoramic feel to it. Other than that the exposure seems perfect and you obviously have a nice deep DOF thanks to the high f-number.

Hi Simon,
A technically abounding shot and its very nice, I think the star filter is a jewel here.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Simon, A wonderful ambiance flows from this "blue-hour" image. The exposure is just right in my opinion. Also i enjoy the blues tones. TFS. Murray.

This is a technically well thought shot. The filter combination is perfect and the final result is very pleasant. I understand the squared frame but I believe you left too much of bottom in this case. In my opinion there is little in the bottom third that justifies as much. Otherwise it is a well done picture.

Hi Simon, "Not all that unpleasant" Must be a question of taste as I found myself gasping for breath on my visit there. A remarkable shot to come from that part of the world. Not what one would imagine. I can only echo the previous comments about how well executed this image is. Cheers, Steve

Hello Simon, You have put a lot of thought into this one & it has paid off, exposure looks just about spoton, the filters have worked well, especially the star filter, a gem. A nice tranquil blue hour scene, it's hard to imagine that there might be an unpleasant odour, as Steve experienced.
Thanks
Santo
