Photographer’s Note
Hi all.
Last weekend we visited the Hawera water-ski club at Lake Rotorangi. This photo was taken just after we launched at Lake Rotorangi and the boat drivers waited for their crews to make their way to the jetty. In the foreground the boys are doing what boys always do when theres water and pebbles!
Lake Rotorangi was formed when the Patea River was dammed for power generation. The lake is approx 30 to 40 KM’s long and is flanked on both sides by native bush and occasional farmland as it winds its way up the valley. Used by fishermen, water skiers and day trippers mainly but there are even houseboats that use the lake. One houseboat is an old bus that floats up and down the lake on its own barge!!
In WS a photo showing what goes on behind these boats.
Enjoy, Paul.

Hi Paul,
You look cool in that waterski ... I didn't know you're a bit of a daredevil :) I reckon a houseboat is the ideal bach ... no gardening and grass/weeds to cut ... possibly no rates too. X'mas holidays is just around the corner, this would be a great recreational ground for the kids ... much better than playing computer games. Wonderfully captured and presented with good image quality. Well done! tfs and have a nice weekend.
Cheers,
Renier

Hello Paul,
I loved the Taranaki region of the North Island, very lush and green. The weather was revolting while I was there however, with squally showers and cold mist in the height of summer! It was very disappointing that I was not able to see Mt. Taranaki/Egmont while I was there, but I did manage to see it on a connection flight a few months later (those pics are on TE). Could you see the peak from this vantage? For an eye-opener, look at Taranaki in Google Earth, the national park surrounding the peak forms a perfect circle around. Farmland has cleared every other scrap of forest. A good compo here, I can feel the atmosphere. I wish you had waited for the child in the grey shirt to move out of the shot, as it detracts from the stance of the others. But you have compensated for this with good colours and saturations and a good degree of sharpness. Thanks for posting.
Matt

Hi Paul,
Beautiful NZ lake scene with lush ferns in background. It's a bit static I think, even the boys show concentration on whatever they are doing. So my points go this time to Workshop. Excellent, sharp action shot showing speed and adrenaline!

Hi Paul,
I like all that activity in this vivid picture. The sun in front on the wall and the fathers acting tough in their speedboats. I hope they will change course in time.

Hi Paul,
The boats and bright clothes add nice touches of color. What an idyllic scene; as a long term boat liver, it brings back happy memories. However, the WS is my favorite because I love the exciting action you captured.

What a big surprise in ws, Paul! I wonder why you didn't posted as the main image. Problably because you are doing the best service to TE and although the other can be more spectacular this one is more apropriate to show the place. A very beautiful place, for what I can see here. The kids are a nice inclusion, although it's a pitty that some feet are cut. I like the subtle diagonal, from left bottom to upper right.
Cheers,

Hi Paul,
A lake and a few children, doing what all of us have done also, to throw pebbles to the water.
Caught good this festive and relaxed environment, with the boats on the second plane, in this photo that has good lighting and good color.
The WS with the skier is impressive, very dynamic and very well obtained.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello Paul,
Your point of view is very effective to capture this scene. The boats on the water look tiny in comparison to the children playing around. The colours and details are perfect. This place seem perfect for some R&R after so much work. Good work and happiness in the New Year :-)
