Photographer’s Note

Hi all.

Last weekend we visited the Hawera water-ski club at Lake Rotorangi. This photo was taken just after we launched at Lake Rotorangi and the boat drivers waited for their crews to make their way to the jetty. In the foreground the boys are doing what boys always do when theres water and pebbles!

Lake Rotorangi was formed when the Patea River was dammed for power generation. The lake is approx 30 to 40 KM’s long and is flanked on both sides by native bush and occasional farmland as it winds its way up the valley. Used by fishermen, water skiers and day trippers mainly but there are even houseboats that use the lake. One houseboat is an old bus that floats up and down the lake on its own barge!!

In WS a photo showing what goes on behind these boats.

Enjoy, Paul.
