Hi,

Taken last summer on a visit to New Zealand. This is a view of Mount Egmont, or more correctly Mt. Taranaki.

The mountain is a volcano and is almost conical in shape. It is a very photogenic mountain, and this shot doesn't really do justice to the magnificence of the mountain.

However, I took a series of photos during the late afternoon, from a car park which serves a ski field. I was almost hypnotised by the cloud blowing across the side of the mountain and into the crevices and valleys on the side of the hill. As the cloud rose again, it caught the sunlight and I was treated to a wonderful light display, which I hope I have captured in this shot. I admit to increasing saturation slightly, just to deepen the blue. Re-sizing the shot has caused some compression in sky, which I have tried to eliminate as much as possible.

I spent the night in my camper on the car park and I can tell you it was freezing.
