Photographer's Note
This spot in New Plymouth's Pukekura Park gives a good view of Mt Taranaki, the dormant volcano that dominates the skyline of New Plymouth. In the middle ground is the red Poet's Bridge, named because it was paid for by a man who won a lot of money betting on a horse named The Poet (not as romantic a story as you were expecting?). This was the opening night of the TSB Bank Festival of Lights, and the bridge was decorated with small lanterns. This display is called Sky of Diamonds, and was designed by Nicola Haines Ramsay.
I used an adjustment layer in Photoshop to lighten up the foreground, without overexposing the mountain.

Hi Vince,
Beautiful image with strong romantic mood, just in time for Valentine's Day :) I love red bridge standing out very well agains the deep green and those lights and the natural setting of fern trees and other vegetation really adds to the moodiness of the composition, and off course the snow peak in the background top it off rising form the v shape of the treeline. Thanks Vince. This deserved more than 1 comments after so many views.
