Photographer’s Note
Artist's Palette - Wai-o-tapu reserve - New Zealand
A view on 'the Artist’s Palette', a viewing area over the 'Champagne Pool' which provides the opportunity to see minerals depositing as hot water flows out of the Pool. The water flows across the flats until its temperature drops before continuing to a valley where the mineral silica has facilitated the formation of sinter terraces.
This pool is 62 m deep. Its surface temperature is 74 °C and bubbles due to carbon dioxide. The pool was formed 700 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption. Minerals contained in the water include gold, silver, mercury, sulphur, arsenic, thallium and antimony. They are depositing in the surrounding sinter ledge.
Please enjoy!

GREAT SHOT !!!
It's a nice composition with a interesting note on it.
and it was a good idea using a fish-eye lense for this scene (am I right with the lense?)

Hi Detay,
I don;t know how did the previous version look like, but this one is simply stunning. very beautiful place and shot, so many colors, and there is some dynamic in your photo, the clouds are so amazing and the mist from the water, so many good elements in only one photo. Excellent job.
Best regards,
Gordana.

I like this version much better than the original one that you posted. Including more sky made a big difference and the more saturated colours bring out the scene

Bonjour Michel,
Vincent

Hi Michel. The fisheye lens works well in this repost, and the colour saturation is much better. The curve of the clouds formed by the fisheye adds an interesting perspective to the image as well. Cheers . . . David
