Photographer’s Note
This is Cape Reinga and its lighthouse at the top of the North Island. Not the first photo of Cape Reinga, just my version.
The drive up to the cape is long and winding, and when you get to the cape it certainly feels like you have reached the end of the earth! Unfortunately no photo can convey the feelings you get when you finally arrive and take in the view.
I took this photo at Labour weekend, which is the start of the tourist season. The rough water in the centre of the photo is the meeting of the oceans, this is where the Pacific ocean meets the Tasman sea. I get the impression they don’t get along ;-).
Hope you enjoy this image.
Cheers, Paul.

Beautiful land/waterscape. The lighthouse on the right is an excellent onject to lead the eyes into the shot. I like your point of view taken from higher up. Your note is very informative and I find it interesting to know where the oceans meet. Nice work Paul.

In my opinion, this is a beautiful composition, with the lighthouse on the right and a big sea in the middle. It really transmits the idea of an immense sea in front of us the the reason for the lighthouse. Well done.

Hello Paul,
The surf breaking out there is a real eye-catcher in this fine seaside image!
Obviously that white lighthouse is a popular viewpoint, but yours is better for photography...
Very well composed image, great natural colours and fine details!

Hello Paul,
Reserving thick part for land is a good idea because this includes wide and detailed view Cape Reinga and its lighthouse. Location of rod on ridges and white stain on ocean tells us weather is not so soft. Colors and sharpness are wonderful. Visitor on road are helping to us imagine the scale of your landscape view.
Congratulations.

Bonsoir paul,
On voit bien le bout du monde, ainsi que la force des courants des deux océans qui forment des lignes convergentes et de l'écume.
Note intéressante.

Hi Paul,
I recognize those signs of two seas meeting well; from a distance on a sailboat, there's always anxiety about how rough the collision of the waters will be. For me it adds great interest to well framed detail of the cape jutting out into the sea. Just looking at the map, I think it's more than seems like a long way; it is a long way. Sorry about my earlier mix-up of names.

Wonderful and simple composition with the diagonal coming in of the land and the lighthoue at the tip. The movement in the water really documents some whirl between the two seas meeting here. I wouldn't feel very safe being a captain here.
The landscape looks very similar to the californian shore, especially around the Big Sur that was so well documented by plimrn and collected in her Driving Big Sur from LAX.
Have a good weekend, Peter

La composition est simple mais très efficace, Paul.
J'aime cette impression de grands espaces et d'embruns marins que donne cette photo. La jonction de l'Océan et de la Mer est bien visible.

Hi Paul,
Spectacular image from a great POV, which gives a great perspective and depth to this image.
The lighthouse is outlined with great contrast on the dark blue one of the ocean and on the green one of the hill, the sinuous highway with the people adds a good dynamism to the set, the foam on the water indicates the presence of reefs, and the line of the horizon meets very distant, separating sky of sea.
Splendid landscape, in a good composition.

Josep

Well Paul, this image makes me remember Roca Cape, the most western point of Europe, near my place. A place where we really fell that the earth ended and the sea begins, as the Portuguese poet from the XV century said it. I can feel that here. Excellent shot from uphere, with the sight of the widing road leading to the lighthouse and the imense sea in front of our eyes. Well done!

Hello Paul.
What a viewpoint. The curve of the road leading to the lighthouse is a nice eyepoint. Your positioning of the scene in the photograph is well done and it's nice to see the line of the ridge following your horizontal formating of the shot. Very cool to catch the meeting of the oceans as well, first time I have seen a photo of such a thing.
Well seen,

A very nice seascape, with excellent framing. The sea is wide open to the horizon but I believe the lighthouse is an important part of the picture, on that cliff pointing like a finger into the sea. Nice wave effect, good colors and sharpness.

Hi Paul -fantastic view of the end of NZ, imagine my disappointment when I drove that boring long road, and could't even see my shoes when I arrived at the end. (I do see a set of islands toward the left side of the horizon, I know it ain't Fiji, wonder if they're inhabited)

Hello Paul
Composition is great with the lighthouse & the winding road leading to it, extremely photogenic. The vast expanse of the sea makes it feel that this is the end of landmass & beginning of eternity. I like your comment about the turbulence where the seas meet. Very nice

Hi Paul
