Photographer’s Note

This is a little township I visited recently on my travels to Cape Reinga. Situated on the east coast between the Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga, this little township is a beautiful lunch stopover.
This photo was taken from the lookout above the bay.

You had an excellent POV from the lookout. The tiny details are well captured in great sharpness. The diagonal lines of clouds make a wonderful addition to the scene.

Very nice view in this beautiful country.
However the sky luminosity gives a little undeexposition to the foreground and this is normal.
The best way is to give a light over exposure or to use a Cokin's grad filter.
Please have a look to my WS.

very beautiful landscape.you have the very nice great sky. you were on the best view point,i think. that the very nice pov.from you can show this benefit.that you've very nicely done.
this little town is so livable.because it's located near lake and mountain.

Hi Paul,
It's a lovely little town and the viewpoint looks great. We didn't find it on our visit, and the weather wasn't so special then either.
Framing feels a bit tight at the bottom. Maybe this could be brightened a little too.

Hi Paul,
A great landscape the one that you show us in your composition. The POV from above is good, creates a great depth to the image, which has a high quality and is very clean. Good proportions in the picture, leaving great space to the beautiful sky with the clouds, which it is spectacular and contrasts perfectly with the dark tones of the water and the land. The ships look like small white spots on the water, I like them.

A lovely image...nice wide view of the bay...the boats dotting the bay are very attractive to the eye.A beautiful skyline...competing with the main subject of the image.Maybe a touch dark down below but not excessive.Like the deep colours and the clarity is spot-on.

quel belle capture, un POV en altitude, mais qui permet , de déceler tousles détails au niveau des eaux.
Une belle place réservée à un ciel superbement décoré de nuages bien blancs (au niveau des balances).
Un cadrage réussi qui respecte les règles.

Your POv is excellent here.It looks like taken from a plane.Nice composition with this quantity of the nice sky and a good contrast withthe dark colors of this nice landscape.The many boats and colord houses are nice deatails.

I see the weather is kinda nice this time on new zealand. I actually know one from norway down there who works at a pratt & whitney engine center.
And it seems that summer has arrived down under:)
I like the sky but I feel the forground is abit dark and dull.. Nice composition and interesting details all over:)

Yes I remember a nice late lunch in Manganui. I really like the excellent detail in the harbor and the township on the point and the clouds above are wonderful.

Hey Paul,
I really like the distance this shots conveys. The high viewpoint and the large amount of sky give you a sense of freedom. What wonders me is that the sky is pretty clear but the colors of the landscape look as if there was no sun. Is it the polarizer or am I entirely wrong??
