Photographer’s Note

Hi all. I know this is way out of season but after too many moody bad weather shots I needed to post something a little more uplifting so I searched my photos for something a bit lighter and found this shot.
This was taken at the end of last autumn and is a shot taken from a lookout close to the Tokorangi Marae (Maori village) and overlooks the Rangitikei River valley.
Judging by the shadows you would think this was taken early or late in the day but this was taken around midday, such is the light a month short of the winter solstice.

Hello Paul,
Nice point of view overhanging these fields and this beautiful tree.
Estonishing for a midday light to be so soft bu tit is true it is winter light for you, hard to think here when we still are in summer (or should be...)
The shadow of the tree is great and I like the sweet colors all around.

really this shot floodlighted from light and colors.I like these kind of landscapes with the pale sunbeams to spread in the whole scene.The tranquil and calmly environment is the main characteristic of the photo.Well done.

A lovely mood which is soft and easy to feel. Very pleasant lawn of green and soft light intensity.

I like best the gold/yellow/brown trees spotted around the far side. The tree at FG added depth. tfs

Hi Paul; looking at the shadows one would never guess the time of day it was taken.
Nice composition with interesting colour & light. A pleasant warm looking country scene & a good choice, something to brighten our winter.

Hi Paul,
an autumn shot and as we are getting closer to our autumn now, pleasant choice for the northern half of the world :-)
Warm and lovely landscape impression, the big shadow is the tree is good. I ask myself a bit which part has got the focal point for sharpness.

Hello Paul:

Despite having been taken in one hour inappropriate, I think that as both the WSS have a high connotation, for power compositional presenting, pleasant and various shades and viewpoint air used.

In general terms, I seemed to be observing a huge golf course. Beautiful and interesting work, and no matter who takes so long to be picked up by your lens, it will always be welcome.

Here I notice how the trees are scattered around in the field, following the fence and probably marking some kind of borderline!
Attractive colour palette with varying shades of green, the long shades add extra attention...

Olá Paul, beautiful combination of green and golden tones with a lovely lighting. Amazing the size of the shadows at midday. I guess that's a good thing, so we have nicer light to photograph during the day. Good balance bettween this FG and the tall trees like soldiers in the BG. The WS is also quite pleasant.

this landscape remember-me places in Europe and southern part of argentina and chile. Beautiful light and pov, the things are very nice inside this compo. the shadows created spots of light, very nice to see too

Hi Paul,

I don't care much for being out of season. I do that every time, mostly not thinking about it, other times on purpose because I am fed up with the weather. After all, Photography is much about memory, maybe it is more senseless to post recent shots than otherwise. Bah, silly discussion...

The important thing is that you present here a breath taking Autumn view, taken from a vintage point. The compo, the light and colours are superb and you took very clever profit of it.

Looks like you're ready for spring - it won't be long now. The long shadows do look like the late light; interesting colors here. I almost think I like the WS even better, guess it's the wider view of the scene.

Hurrah, spring is on the way. Hasn't it been WET? And this weekend, for the first time in 8 weeks, we expect / hope we're finally getting a sunny weekend.
