Photographer’s Note

Hi All.
I have been a little busy this last week or two so I post this snap I shot the way to work about month ago.
I was lucky with my timing for this photo. The sun had been up for a short while and was shining through clear sky onto the ground in front of me but the clouds and far hills were in shadow creating the effect. I used no filter or PP trickery in this shot.

Hello Paul. The contrast and saturation of colours is excellent in this image. Your timing was definitely good as you managed to capture this scene very well. The sheep on the right is almost invisible as it blends nicely with the orange of the hay. Good composition.

Hi Paul, The light is excellent & the contrast between the dark sky & bright field is superb, your composition is very good with the hills in the background below the centre line, the sheep in the bottom right adds the living element, a nice sharp & clear photo, kind regards Wilson.

Wow, very attractive shot, Paul. A sunny image with a heavy cloudy sky is allways a wonderful combination, but this one really stands out. It's quite minimalist, but it's soooo beautiful. After all, photography is all about light and that's what you got here. Incredible color contrast. Congratulations!

Yes you were lucky.. this light on the dry fields under such a dark sky looks fantastic... the animal has his head deep into the grass i saw in zooming ! Good proportion of sky to ground

Hi Paul, the contrast of the two colored elements couldn't be better. The composition with the cow placed in the right lower corner is intelligent, although by being an albino cow it conferes the impression that the shot is slightly overexposed. Perfect also in respecting the 1/3 rule of the horizon.

Hello Paul,
Excellent light and colours creating a photo like creating two layers one on the ground and one in the sky. I like the fact that the line of horizon is uncentered giving some more importance to it. The line of trees and the cows gives the photo more interest and life.

Hi Paul,
The light on then golden fields really makes them glow against the dark and threatening sky. The fact that you were able to capture some detail in the clouds really makes the photo work. So is it a cow or a sheep? HLJ, Pat

The light really is the key here; it has created a lovely image of contrasts. The golden fg contrasted with the black sky is wonderful. It is almost a minimal composition but te animals add just that bit more to a beautiful scene.

That glow is amazing. The fields have turned to gold, and the cattle as well! This is a demonstration in perfect timing; I don't use the word perfect loosely either. The contrast between the sky and the field is great. I bet this moment would be wonderful to see floating just above...to see the golden arm of the sun stretching over the land.

This is my favorite light with such a strong contrast between the golden sunlit field and the very dark clouds. I believe you when you say there's no trickery. The only thing which would have added to the shot would have been been having a black sheep in the foreground instead of a white one which doesn't stand out so well.

"lucky" is an understatement for this scene, the gods of photography must've been smiling around their heads for you :) the combination of ink black sky and golden foreground is pure magic, and the cow is just in the right place to add a point of interest. superb timing and excellent result.
