A Special Sunset, Joe's 1st Photo

Photographer’s Note

Hi All.

A photo with more significance for me than you perhaps but I thought I might share it with you anyway.

This photo was taken on the evening of the day our first grandchild was born, one year ago today. How quickly children grow, Joseph took his first steps this week!!

This is the Rangitikei River just ten minutes walk from our house and somewhere I go to walk and take photos.

Hope you forgive me this brief sentimental interlude.

Hi Grandpa Paul.It's a fine sunset, but I hope you weren't feeling your age, as sunsets are symbolic of a life lived rather than one starting. Still, it does have vibrant, lively colours, serenity too and a sense of contentment, with the promise of a fine day. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Paul, sentimentality is allowed. The shot is a good one anyway with your tree silhouette and you've picked up good textural colors in the water and sky.

Hi Paul,The Grandfather.....
No issues for being Sentimental Paul!!But a Sunrise rather than Sunset would have been ideal treat to celebrate this moment.Dont think how one grows from child to Old and dont think how fast time passes by....live every moment,enjoy every moment.Next time around I would like to see a fine Sunrise snap from you.
As far as the quality of snap is concerned, it is a nice one.Nice soft tonality of colours and nice use od the dark silhoutte of those trees.The reflection of the sky color on the waterbody is also very pleasing.Nice composition indeed.

It's like the the world was celebrating with you!! The delicate detail of the tree silhouette against the bright sky and the sky's reflection in the broad curve of the river is just beautiful. It conveys well the joy of a grandchild; you get all of the fun without the responsibilty. This is an excellent way of commemorating the first year of life of your grandchild. Keep the photo and give him as a present when he turns 20. I will bet you it will be a “sentimental” gift for yourself and the boy, then a young man. The picture is wonderful with a nice great POV and superb colours. Well done.

Your brief moment of sentimentalism is forgiven, but I would like to see more such moments, Paul. I see the joy of the day in this shot and you nailed it with the long exposure giving that marvelous silky appearance on the water. It almost looks like that the water isn't there anymore but also clouds.

The sunt always are one of the best part f the day aspecila this kind of sunset, not just becuase the amazing color, too because you can hear the birds, the wind all the nature make a big concert in this moment and you cna enjoy it.
I really like your picture special the colors and the diferent tones of red, pink, orange, and yellow, the reflex in this river are wonderul is like a morrow, and even the water is so peaceful, the tree are amazing.

Something to show to your grandchild in a few years.

Very nice composition with the tree on the right, very sharp, with all the leaves contrasted by the colored sky behind, and excellent reflexion of the color on the river.

Beautiful image to celebrate. The long shutter speed has created a wonderful effect on the water along with some superb reflected colours. The triangle of shoreline in the image is perfectly balanced by the tree on the right.

What a great way to remember a special occaion ! He's a quick walker too.
It seems that the light was celebrating the birth too as it was stunning. Good balance between the rocky shore and the tall trees which seem to frame the pink light.

Sentimental interlude forgiven! :) What a great way to remember the birth of your grandson! I'm sure he'll appreciate the significance of this beautiful, tranquil scene one day.
The various tones of red here, balanced against the silhouettes, create a nice image. Considering the low light, there's excellent detail - particularly on the shore in the foreground. I also think the balance and composition is spot on.

Wonderful sunset on the same day a new rising smile was born. The atmosphere is very nice and serene, the colours across the river surface are just wonderful as the patterns created by the clouds in the sky.
I also like the effect created by the tree branchs against the sky.
