Photographer’s Note
This is an update to my “Not so lucky” photo.
I passed this spot in my travels today and stopped and took this shot. As you can see the land has been taken over as pasture again and is left to the stock to graze.
I don’t know how happy the household was when the house burnt down but there must have been good and bad times experienced here. But that all went up in smoke on the 30th of September last year and now all that’s left behind are these monuments to a lost home.
Enjoy.
Cheers, Paul.
PS I have added the photo of the fire to WS for comparison.

Hi Paul,
A sstrange sight indeed.. all that remained is the chimneys...Well chosen POV anyway, nice colors and sharpness, vertical framing is natural here.

Hi Paul,
This scene possibly was not that much to look at for the naked eye ... but somehow you made it look interesting. Such is the challenge of photography ... you certainly have achieved this with flying colours ... well done!

Olá Paul, it's great to see the complementar image taken at the time of the fire. It gives a more deep impression on this one. Excellent capture of these lost monuments. They actually look very pretty in the landscape and should be treated like sculptures. Another very interesting image of your own style ;-)
Cheers,

There's not too much left of the houses now. You have composed this well at an angle so our eye naturally travels from the first chimney to the next. Thanks for the WS too for context.

It is interesting to see this fire site being claimed back by nature!
Coincidentally I posted a firesite myself today, but yours look more beautiful...
A well composed image with good details, strong natural colours!

A really original and interesting picture. Seing these two brick chimneys standing alone on tthe ground, without any remain of the house from which they were originally part make a very strange image. Good framing and nice light.
All the best,

Bonjour, Paul,

Hi Paul, What a lovely composed & well balenced photo, it is amazing to think that someone was living here not so long ago & now it's not even a shell, however you have produced a great shot out of a tragedy, very good POV & focus, nice colours & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

This sort of pic is quite sad to see. A fire does so much damage - completely destroying everything...
I remember your first posting of this place Paul. And your POV looks good with the chimneys standing together like this, TFS

Hi Paul,
A curious image, it is true that looks like a sad monument to the lost home, where only both chimneys of brick are kept intact, since I suppose that the rest of the house must be constructed in wood, and it burned completely.
It is a sad but made well photo.

Josep

Paul, c'est bien étrange ces deux cheminées qui sont restées plantées là comme des monuments du souvenir. Le WS montre comment ces maisons ont disparu sous l'incendie. Une photo simple et belle mais empreinte d'une grande tristesse.

Hi Paul,
Seeing the lovely detail of those two old fireplaces, now abondonned, makes the story even more sad. In your fire photo, it's doesn't give the former glory of the place justice nearly as well as there two stark reminders of what once was. The place definitely deserved this 'In Memorium' shot. It's amazing how people's lives can change so quickly. I often had that sense when I worked in the emergency room. Nursing not only taught me that, "All anyone has is Right now,' but I also learned of the grace, dignity & hope that people were able to muster in the face of catastrophic life changes. HLJ, Pat

Hi Paul,
Seeing this pic reminds me of something an ex member of our local brigade once said in dry, straight faced humour. "We never have a total loss. We always save the section and the chimney." I've seen many of these 'monuments' over the years.
Your image is composed nicely and I like the colours and detail. Well done, Paul

Hi Paul. An amazing transformation. In this photo it seems the house has been gone for year. You wove this into a good story. I t always strikes me as odd that after a fire, only the fireplace remains! Good POV and clarity of photo and thoughts. Murray.

If I am ever in a house that is about to come down, I would like to be inside the chimney. I notice how strong these structures are built and rarely will fall before the house. The picture is a simple composition with good subjects. I like how you managed to capture both structures in a vertical format. Good, natural colors and sharpness.

Hi Paul, I recognized the link to your previous shot "Not so lucky" right away from the thumbnail. Interesting documentation here of changes through the time. Now clean with a beautiful "lawn" claiming back the place. It will be interesting to have a picture of the same place in about 5-10 years when time and nature will start to work on the chimnees.

Hello Paul.
Intriguing photo with this intense colours and the two chimneys remaining from the fire.
It has a strange atmosphere with these two vertical chimneys against nothing else around but the vegetation.
It's indeed well seen and composed to create a phantasmagoric look almost.

Hello Paul.
Well it is a true sign of talent when one can take such simple scene and present it with such life. Seeing the arches in the brickwork and the lonely chimneys standing makes one consider the lives that past by these fires...as you stated in your note. We do know that A craftsman once laid down these bricks and these fire kept someone warm...somewhere in time...So cheers for such a human photo beautifully presented.

Chris.
