Photographer’s Note
These wind generators on the Ruahine Ranges stand more than 100 meters tall at the top of the swing. Alone are blades are 36 meters long.
These facts impressed me, but they still don’t prepare you for the impression they make when you actually see them in the flesh. The sheer size is one thing but movement of the blades is quite another. There are over 150 wind generators on these hills and when you see then all spinning the landscape comes alive. Quite a sight.
Hope you enjoy.
Cheers, Paul.

Magnifique photo !

Hi Paul,
I think these machines are beautiful as well as a source of hope for the future. Your shot has framed this windfarm perfectly against the stormy sky. I also like the way the fromt one catches the evening light.

Hello Paul, this is absoluely beautiful. Did you use NeatImage? If not, how did you achieve such a "smooth" texture in this photo? We have the same wind generators everywhere in my home state (Oklahoma) in the States, but I didn't know all these interesting facts about them. Thanks for sharing :P Take care!

Hi Paul,
As did the previous visitors I enjoy that one for the subltle light touches that make them stand out against the dark clouds, I like too the bottom angle that makes them look bigger. And congratulations for having been published, is this the published photo ?
Have a nice day,

Hello Paul,
Bien vu.
Daniel.

Palmerston North? Man that town reminded me of Eastern Europe with that big square surrounded by socialist looking concrete blocks. But I digress.. awesome light and contrast here, excellent timing

Iv seen such windmills in my own area and have wanted to try something like this. Great light in this capture, the warm tones illuminating the the windmills. The dark moody sky really sets them off. Very nice work.

Very dramatic, Paul. This is definitely a depiction of the wind turbines in a amjestic manor, which is fitting with the also majestic NZ scenery, as shown here. Sonderful perspective, and great light from the setting sun! Well done!

Hi Paul,
this image is a tough one to comment on 'cause is so good...i equally admire the composition as the light with the set of warm colours you've captured...from this perspective the wind generators look delicate and almost fragile...the only point to add: Don Quijote is missing;-)...cheers, arturo

Hello Paul! I like this shot very much! It's a very artist representation of a subject that I hadn't previously thought would lend itself to such an interpretation. So you have inspired to me to seek out these windmills in my travels in California. And we do have these same windmills in many places.
I think using a vertical composition from a low angle looking up is what made this such a striking image. Of course, that great sky helped too!
