Photographer’s Note
Or; Ewe following me?
For those that asked me for a sheep photo, here it is. This is the road I live on and these sheep are supposed to keep the grass short but we had a good spring growing season and the sheep haven’t managed to keep up with the growth. Anyway these white ladies spend all day wandering up and down the road eating a little here and a little there but mostly just following the leader.
In WS a couple taken earlier in the summer.
Enjoy, Paul

Hi Paul,
Strong curve composition. Sheer amoun of sheep is impressive, and it's fun to see them staying mostly in queue. I'd prefer them coming towards camera as in the WS, but that seems to be missing some clarity.

Hallo Paul,
That fence in the foreground looks terrible, the the curve in the road were the sheeps heading to is very good composed. Like this one also more than the ws version, although that one is greener. I hope you don't have problems with driving the roads if these boys and girls are doing their walk ;-)
Take care,

Hello Paul,
Very beautiful sheep pictures, specially with the curve in the road.
On first sight I didn't like the fence on the FG but when I imagine the picture with this part cropped out, we miss the frame of the grass at the bottom of the pic. So the fence has to stay.

Paul,
Yes, sheeps, lot of sheeps, ba....follow me...me... Thanks you Paul. Love the curve of path to lead us in and follow the sheeps to where ever that is, I'm sure it's beautiful, it New Zealand after all is there a bad place? I like there is a little break of the line here and there and some of them went off to glaze. Well the fence is kind of in the way but what can you do, sometime you just can't avoid it, I'm sure you tried. Beautiful. Thanks. That's my typical NZ image in my head for a long time.

Following you? I wish, because that would mean that I would be in New Zealand - one of my big dreams to stay for 4 - 6 weeks, even more know that landscape photography and hiking is one of my biggest joys in life.
Now a more technical question. The composition and idea is a very good one, but why the fence? Cropping it or even better waiting a better opportunity to have some distance between the last sheeps and the fence so that cropping would not get in the way.

Hi Paul
It was either the sunset one or this beauty, I like this one more. Had this situation today myself going to the Waimangu Valley, but with the goats ;-). The sheep are in nearly perfect line going up the hill, looks very dry heading more south on the north island but it suits the mood very well. Will have to meet up soon, planning to head down there very soon so let me know when your free from work.

We live close to the North Yorkshire moors where the sheep roam free, but they seem to be more independent and don't 'follow each other like sheep'. I love how you have captured them on this curve almost in single file, with a few renegades who have spotted a choice morsel of grass. NZ and sheep go hand-in-hand.:D

Leaving in this area, you knew exactly where to stand to get this pov, and the right moment when the sheep passing on this curvy road. I like the contrast between the grey asphalt and the sheep/dry grass. I think I would have tried to crop the fence down there, but that's just personal ;)

Hi Paul,
A wonderful scene, with a funny touch of humour and a well though compo that takes good profit of the good POV. Maybe the visual impact was even greater if they were more orderly, but it would be much less funny.
The only thing less right is the fence, but maybe if you had cropped it the balance of the compo would suffer.
The older shot is also very good, but the less good exposure on the bodies does a bit of damage. They are also more orderly, so it isn't so hilarious.
The portrait of the lad is superb!
Regards, José.

hi Paul
The sheep and the curved path is really the diagonal composition that textbooks and guides try to recommend to photographers, and you have shown it very nicely for this capture. The color tone of the grass is superb to match the body color of the sheep. Put the grey tone of the path and it really strikes a good contrast for this one. Good work.

Hello Paul
Picture of New Zealand without a sheep! Pretty line they follow especially when we see the WS#2. Good view point with the curve of the road. We have herds of goats in villages but not so many sheep. Lots have been said about the fence…but the crop would be quite critical on a couple of sheep (or ewe)…so leave it as it is…Well done here!
