The Chateau, a photo from Manawatu, North Island

Photographer's Note

The Chateau Tongariro is a hotel at the foot of Mt Ruapehu, the snow-capped volcano in the background. Ruapehu (2797 m) is the highest mountain on the North Island. This photo was taken in the morning when the chateau was still in the shade, so I brightened up the foreground to make it stand out more.

une très belle scène avec cette hotel devant cette montagne imposante dans une lumière extraordinaire. Bien aussi de donné le gazon si beaucoup d'espace dans le composition, ca balance le photo parfaitment.

The photo has extraordinary clarity and sharpness, with the well lit castle standing out against the shadows and the textures of the dark vegetation. Quite a surprising view, I had no idea that you can find such classic big hotels in New Zealand.
And the background volcano s of course magnificient.
Bright cut lawn makes good contrast with darker forest.
