Photographer’s Note
Too busy to enjoy the view?
Hi All. Another view from Te Mata Peak.
These sheep spend their lives here so must be more than used to the view and I guess the business of eating is far more important to them.
In the background is the Hawkes Bay country side, an area of orchards and vineyards.
Converted from raw.
Enjoy, Paul.

hi Paul
Quite a shot to show the sheep at the edge and I supposed the grass at the top must be better. The backdrop which you encountered in this fog is really quite soft and I can imagine how powerful this view can become if the light is stronger. But I can see the fog has given you a nice natural DOF effect to blur the backdrop.
It must be different to stand on this spot, from viewing it on screen.

Yes i think this has a fantastic pov and great contrast between subject and the foggy bg, need a little bit sharpness on bg but i still enjoy this panaromic view...

Hi Paul,
The blueish haze make the valley look as its under water. The view is pretty nevertheless and the sheep provide a nice focal point. I think the image could be a little sharper but overall is a nice coposition. Thanks Paul.

Hi Paul, the haze or mist behind the sheep really makes this one work. The sheep and the front hill are in great sharp focus but the haze softens the rest of the shot, while still allowing us to see the view. You had a great position to capture it like this. I've seen shots where the background drifted away with the mist, but never with a distinct cut like this. I like it.
Thanks, John

nice sheep on the green. And an interesting milky view of the background valley. Good differences in light and clarity.

Most interesting colors for the landscape in the background, with this dominent light blue color when green would have been expected. It gives an unreal impression to the image.

What I really like here are the different layers of background separated by the areas with and without the fog. That gives a huge sense of depth. Also, the foreground with the green slope and the two sheep is beautiful. Well done.

Unfortunatelly New Zealand wine is very expensive here, but the white one is very delicious.
Great POV and good composition with the sheep on top of the hill the nice and flat landscape behind.I like the contrast with the foreground and these blueish tones.

Hello Paul,
Although I loked a lot the other one and its vetical framing, this one clearly marks more difference between the very strong and neat foreground and the rest of this misty landscape. Outstanding viewpoint!
Have a nice sunday.

Hi Paul,
The sheeps in foreground are outlined on a plain's landscape that it gets lost between the mist, and it creates a nice optical effect.
The high POV helps to give depth to the image, in spite of the mist, and gives a good graphical result.
Good work.
Friendly regards from Barcelona,

Hi Paul,
I do like the misty valley as a BG for the sharp detail of the sheep feeding on the edge. It looks like that was quite a climb to capture this view. The unconcerned attitude of the sheep applies even more to the potential fall than to the view. However, that clearly isn't an issue for them either.

Hello Paul,
Your point of view makes those guys look like very brave, balancing on the edge like this!
An interesting capture where the landscape below is seen through the hazy air, making up a background carpet...
And these brave animals will of course qualify for my sheep theme!

Paul,
to be honest I'm not busy at the moment and have time to enjoy the view. Lucky me that I'm not a sheep that spends the whole day eating and digesting some gras, but lucky to be a TE member to enjoy views from all the corners of this world including this little corner here. The compression of the large focal lenght worked quite well giving the impression that the sheeps are on the brink to fall down all the way to the valley.

Hi Paul, I'm sure these sheep are not concerned with the view, I think their main aim would be food survival & from here they look like they are very precariously placed. In this shot they are an excellent addition & are a focal point.
Nice view & very well captured, the misty BG add a little mystique.
Thanks
