Photographer’s Note
Hi all.
Following on from my First light at Wharite post I show the view east from Wharite peak. This is looking out over the southern Hawkes Bay. There is a town just visible in the upper right of the photo and this is Woodville.
Taken at 6:45 in the morning the low sun has bought out the contours of the landscape.
Enjoy.
Cheers, Paul.

This definitely is a wonderful landscape picture. The big diagonal separating both fore and background areas is excellent as is show us different textures and colours. The low cloud on top gives a second level of depth (in height). Very well done.

Wow, what a fantastic scenery, Paul. It looks like an imaginary land of a fairly tail. It almost could be a landscape from the 'Lord of the Rings'. Great framing with a strong foreground and impressive depth. Very attractive colors and beautiful effect from the game of light and shadow. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place. Excellent shot!

Hi Paul,
Special light on this one created by early morning sunshine and haze in the background. I like those special coloured shrubs. I remember them from my own visit in 2004.

You use well the diagonal foreground here Paul as a intro to the grand landscape in the back. The compo 'wins' by the strong contrast and saturation where also the dark shadow there adds interest. Great landscape well captured.

Hi Paul,
Your spectacular POV puts you above the clouds and shows a LOT of the countryside. It is a real light and shadow picture. On my new monitor, it looks almost sepia. From other's comments about the saturation, I clearly need to calibrate it. It looks like autumn is creeping up on you. HLJ, Pat

It isn't just the low sun light but also the golden hue over the shrubs in the foreground that gives a magical touch to this shot, Paul. The texture of the whole landscape is so clear that I have the impression to be standing at the peak myself.
