Photographer’s Note
In the middle of the New Zealand bush!!
Hi all. After having trekked for nearly 2 hours up the Rangiwahia Hut track this bridge and its surroundings seems a little incongruous. This bridge was built twenty years ago and at the time was more than an hours walk from the road end. The wooden bridge spans a high gorge with its lovely ached form and looks for all the world like something out of a Japanese garden.
There was a large landslide over the winter which wiped out a small part of the track but caused us a long detour, hence the added time for our assent. We did carry on for another hour to the Rangiwahia Hut (1320M ASL) for some magnificent views over the Rangitikei district.
In WS another view of the bridge.
Have an enjoyable and safe festive season, Paul.

Bonjour Paul

Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Paul,
a very nice view, the bridge, even if incongruous, contributes to a nice composition in this view.

Hi Paul
It must have been quite a site after all that hiking. Nicely exposed and this POV suits the vertical format. When I saw the WS it definitly looked like a Japanese garden.

Hi Paul,
I think the hike is worth it. Life most unexpected surprise are when you take detour route. This is a very beautiufl bridge right in there surrounded by beautiful nature. The bridge looks as if it's stairs goind up. The workshop image is very nice also and very helpful. Thanks

Hi Paul,
Indeed there is an atmosphere like a Japanese garden in this picture, although when I looked at the thumbnail I thought it was the Chinese wall in New Zealand.
I wish you a pleasant end of the year and all the best for 2009.

Hey Paul looks like the Waitakes here, so this scene looks very natural and a relaxing place to walk and find the bush retreats wildlife. The bridge leads well into the scene with first rate colours and detail. All the best for 2009 Paul and we shall meet up for some photography.

Hello Paul,
It must be a surprise to find this well presented bridge after a 2-hour trek. The diagonal composition is striking as well as the greeneries suroounding it. My best compliments and wishing you happy holidays. Danilo

Olá Paul, nice perspective showing how the elegant bridge jumps from here to there. The trek seems quite nice and the day was a beautiful sunny one from what I see here. Although this picture has better quality, the WS attracts me very much - an arch flying in the middle of all that greenery...
Wish you a Merry Christmas,

Hi Paul,
Indeed it reminds much a Japanese garden, not only for the bridge, but also for some of the trees. It's a beautiful place and you present it wonderfully. The compo is very well done and every technical detail is spotless (exposure, sharpness, colours, etc.).
I like the WS very much also and it deserved a main post, but somehow I find this more attractive.
Cheers, José.

the high POV gives a nice perspective on the bridge!I wonder if I prefer the WS where we can see in a better way the position of this incredible bridge above the gorge, and where I appreciate better the landscape! But it's only my poor opinion, and this photo is also very beautiful!Like you,I love the vegetation very much,it's superb!

Hello, Paul!
It really looks like a bridge taken strightly from the japanese garden (very similar to the one which is placed in my city Wroclaw in Poland :) I think that japanese culture and architecture is very popular all around the world and some of it's elements can be easily found in many places. Nice shot!
regards,
Greg

Bonjour Paul.
Ce pont est presque insolite dans cette nature qui semble si sauvage. En plus de son côté pratique il est très esthétique et fait penser en effet à un pont dans un jardin japonais.
Happy Christmas !

Hi Paul,
This so leafy forest is spectacular, and your vertical setting allows to catch it in all its beauty.
In addition this wooden bridge and its arch add a good dynamism and an elegant perspective to the composition.
It is true that this place looks like a Japanese garden.
Great work, my friend.
Happy Christmas to you and to your family.

Hi Paul,
I do like the way you've framed the shot with bridge angling across the gorge and the cloud filling the dip in the trees. The WS really shows the density of the forest. I can imagine that having trekked through that dense forest, it would seem unreal to come upon this bridge.
The sensation might be similar to the one I experienced after driving down a 8 foot wide dirt road, no guardrails, two-way traffic and an 18% downgrade. As we arrived at the bridge crossing Mono Creek, there were signs announcing, "restaurant & bar," "spa & massages." Here I thought we were in the back country!!

Your high POV is wonderful and the slight angle of the bridge works well in your composition. The cloud is also an important feature of the whole scene. The WS emphasises even more the way the area is becoming over grown.

Hi Paul,
Especially in the workshop you get the feeling of this "delicate" style bridge almost overpowered in this massive place. From this feeling you have the expanse and dimension ... tough range of light .. both are nice .. in some ways I like the workshop even more ... take care, John

Hello Paul
Your high POV is amazing and the angle of the bridge works well in your composition. The bridge seems to be quite steep. In the WS we see more of the forest which envelops the bridge. I agree with Kath that the cloud plays an important part in the scene. Good work!

Good choice of vertical framing to give depth to this dangerous looking bridge... Colors and sharpness are fine too.Maybe a little cropping of the darker zone, down there, but no real issue there.
