Photographer’s Note
This is a photo I have been intending to take for some time now. This is the view from state highway one just south of Waiouru as you cross a railway overpass. I have driven this way for years and never stopped to take this photo, until now.
I love the way the roads, lines and tracks all lead to the mountain. The road is on the far right and Waiouru is only just visible centre right.
Hope you enjoy.
Cheers, Paul.

Very nice picture. I also like the roads and lines going straight to the massif. Good picture with excellent depth of field and perspective. I think you did some noise removal by looking t=at the brown bushes beside the train line. Nice work :-)

Hi Paul,
Really wonderful landscape. The rail tracks seemed to be converging with the horizon peaks.A wonderful sight, treat to eyes. The colour is extremly good, little low in light but that anyway is not a major concern.Great job.

Hi Paul,
Great view. Funny looking dry wegetation. Lake and snowy mountain background. And the railway line works as a main focal point. I guess traffic over there is so scrarcs that waiting for the train would be too much to ask.
Should the location be spelled Waiouru?

The railway and the mountain; what a combination! I love the railway, I even have a theme on that, but combining it with that snowy mountain has created a beautiful scenery. Love your composition and your pov Paul. Placing the railway on the right third was a clever move since it allows the viewer to navigate from foreground to the back. Amazing.
Technically, I think you could gave opened the shadows a bit. Guess you were afraid of overexposing the snow... Probably you had to use a ND grad filter to balance the light. I am presenting a workshop to deal with this. Hope you don't mind. Great photo!

I love how the snowy mountain blends into the clouds, and how the railway ties the foreground right to it. Interesting how all the "important clutter" of man is so trivial in comparison. Good view.. you are lucky that it is yours to enjoy any time :)

I see, you were waiting to get the ideal weather conditions to get this picture. The fusion between the snow-capped mountain and the clouds is terrific. And, you're right the, the triantracks leading straight to the mountain is a good one.

Hi Paul,
You chose a good day to take this pic. Having the cloud hanging low over the mountain creates a really nice effect. The composition with all the lines leading away towards the mountain, as you say in your note, is a great way of leading the viewer's eye towards where you want it. The effect is really nice. It's just a shame that the pic seems a little too dark because, other than that, it's really good work.
Best wishes,
Tony

I love these types of pictures. Pictures were long roads lead towards something beautiful. Especially when a nice and impressive mountain stands at the end of the road. In this case it's even better because there's not only the road... What I would have prefered would be a POV right above the road or the railway because that gives a sense of travelling for the viewer. Anyways, truely impressive scenery!

Hello Paul.
This is indeed an incredible sight. I find myself passing by scenes time and time again before I actually stop...I should just take the time and stop right away.
Anyway, the lines that you refered to are a great track for ones eyes. The browns of the foreground contrast quite nice with the backgrouind maountain and snow. Great perspective and the cloud cover is awesome.

Hi Paul,
I cannot believe that you have crossed for this bridge often for years and have not taken this photo till now.
It is a spectacular and very beautiful landscape, and I like the perspective that there form the highway, the railroad and the posts, which take the glance to us directly up to the magnificent mountains in background.
Excellent shot.

Hi Paul,
I do like the symbolisym of all lines leading to that wonderful mountain with its double mantle of snow and clouds, and its feet in the blue lake. Excellent detail and color; the RR tracks gleam silver and the clouds are so puffy I want to play in them. Does the train run again? I took the train from Wellington to Aukland in 2003; it was running very slowly d/t problems with the rails and then it was shut down. It was a wonderful trip; we had a very chatty group in the club car: an avocado farmer headed to his home a bit south of Aukland, couples from GB, ISLe of Mann & Seattle.

Hi
You live in country of unfinished opportunities for photographers. Even railroad trail and the electric lines can look interesting when composed with the nature wonders. I still keep in my memory your other picture with Mount Ngauruhoe. Both photos make a quite interesting theme.
I'd clone out the red light in the center of photo - for me it's disturbing.
