Photographer's Note
After receiving a number of comments about my first posting & the fact the picture was too small, I have reposted in the standard format for Trek Earth. This is a photo taken a number of years ago on White Island, New Zealand's most active volcano. This Island is around 50 kms of the North Island coast in the Bay of Plenty. Enjoy this larger version. Neil

Bonjour Neil
Il y a quelque chose de très spécial à voir cette fumée qui sort de la terre et qui donne à celle-ci des teintes très chimiques. J'aime la contre plongée qui utilise parfaitement le ciel comme arrière plan.
Amicalement

Hello Neil,
this is a striking landscape and the colors and contrasts are just amazing. It almost look not natural - it is so pretty! The composition benefits very much also from this mist circling between rocks and the bright blue sky provides a perfect fond.
Well done!

Hi Neil!
I have not seen the small version but this photo is great.
I like a lot the parallel of the diagonal steam and this nice cloud and of course the sulfur tones.
Great colors and contrast!

Hi Neil,
Yellow sulphur tones look always so strange and tell clearly of volcanic activity. That blowing steam make an interesting pair with thin clouds in the sky.

Hello Neil - This is a super shot. The subject matter is fascinating and your image is packed with fine and interesting detail. The colours are attractive and very well captured in the rocks... such variety. The plume of steam adds an excellent 3D feel to the shot and ties in nicely with the cloud. TFS this, a fine shot and pleasure to see. Warm regards Rosemary

Thanks for reposting this photo in larger size. The formation and colours of the volcano are astounding, and contrast so well with the perfect blue sky.
Best regards.
